Brad Pitt has lately been sporting a spiffy new short back and sides.
And the 50-year-old revealed on Sunday that the edgy haircut is for a new film role in the upcoming war drama Fury.
The hair revelation came on the red carpet for the Producers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills after he playfully threatened to kiss 12 Years A Slave director Steve McQueen.
The Mr And Mrs S mith acto that his new 'do was 'for a part'.
Adding: 'It's not a choice!'
Despite appearing to be a bit self-conscious, Brad was looking as sharp as ever in a dashing tuxedo.
Then in another in terview on t he red carpet, the Fight Club star gushed about 12 Years A Slave - which he helped produce.
Brad explained to E! that the awards season would help the historical film reach a wider audience: 'It's great. It also ensures that more people are going to see it. And in my mind this is a film that only comes along once in a decade and everyone should see this.'
Adding: 'It's that good. It's moving, it's inspirational. It's why I wanted to go into film in the first place.'
The film's director McQueen praised the actor on the red carpet: 'Brad is a great producer because he's a filmmaker, he's an artist.
'When you have an actor who is a producer, he wants the best for the director.'
After making that statement, Pitt gushed: 'I'm gonna kiss you on the lips!'
Appearing a bit taken aback, McQueen laughed and said: 'Okay. Right on the lips. Okay.'
And the film's star Chiwetel Ejiofor only had great thing to say about the Hollywood icon: 'I think the truth is we wouldn't have been able to make this film without Brad Pitt, because of what he brings.
'He's a movie star. He's a huge figure in this profession, in this industry.
'So him coming on board and him being a producer made, I think, the complete difference to make the film,
'It just goes to show what an individual could do when they have that kind of reach and they're prepared to use it to support filmmakers. I'm deeply grateful to him for allowing this film to be made.'
12 Years a Slave tells the true life story about Solomon Northup, who was kidnapped during the American Civil War and sold into slavery.
Meanwhile, Brad's haircut is for the upcoming World War II drama Fury directed and written by David Ayer.
Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal, Michael Peña, Jason Isaacs, and Scott Eastwood co-star in the action film, which is set for release on November 14.
