While I really don't see ' splashlights' taking off (my apologies to The Daily Mail), there's another highlighting technique that might just bump ombre off the map this season, and Kelly Rowland is apparently sporting it at the moment.
I'm not talking about the blue tones at the front of her hair. I want to talk about her highlights.
Notice that they 1) Are rather chunky and dramatic compared to what we're used to seeing, 2) Are placed around her face as opposed to all over like ombre tends to be, and 3) Start beneath the top layer of her hair so they peak out from underneath as opposed to going all the way up to her roots.
I'm not totally sure what to call this technique yet, but I do know that it comes courtesy balayage, in which highlights are hand-painted on by a colorist. If it takes off, would you consider going for it?
