How to Steal Kate Bosworth's Braided Updo

Now that we know we can copy Kate Bosworth's enviable wardrobe choices with her new fashion app, Style Thief, we're on a mission to steal her pretty plaited updo, too. While we'll admit recreating the intricate hairstyle will require a bit more effort than her 'snap and steal' approach, we can at least eliminate the guesswork with some helpful hints from the star's hairstylist, Bridget Brager.

To start, Brager recommends dousing strands with Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray ($29; ulta.com) from roots to ends before using your hands to blow dry. She concentrated on lifting the hair away from the scalp to add texture and body; once the hair was dry, she created a deep side part and then moved on to the plaits. 'Starting at the crown, along the part, I began braiding forward so the braid would fall towards her forehead concealing her hair line, which is what gave way to a soft, romantic feel,' Brager explains. 'Then I started a second and third braid at her temples, braiding back on each side.'

After working in an anti-frizz cream to add shine and tame flyaways, she then loosened the braids for a voluminous touch. 'To get the detail in the back, I wove the braids together and pinned them low to give a halo effect,' she adds. 'To finish, I sprayed a light coat of L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray ($15; ulta.com) and allowed any bits to fall as they may and she was set!'
