The always stunning Tamera Mowry took to Instagram recently to reveal her new short, curly hairstyle. 'Love my big chop,' she writes. So do we!
We're glad to see that Tamera loves her new look, since it's apparently been a long time coming. Earlier this month, the new mom and former Sister, Sister star informed her Instagram followers that she was starting to transition into wearing her natural hair full time. She wrote,
It all began when a hair stylist used a marcel HOT IRON on my hair and ruined it. I cried, but it's only made me appreciate the hair I was born with. Ladies embrace your curls...Beginnings of my curly hair journey. It starts with a cut! You don't always have to do a big chop! Like me, I'm doing it gradually. Learn to love your natural hair.
Soon after, the actress posted a makeup-free selfie of her wet hair pulled into a topknot, captioning the photo, 'My go to transitional hairstyle! When you have two textures growing in. The high bun is easy and sexy. #embracing my curls. But this stage sucks!'
Tamera's sexy new style was definitely worth it, if you ask us- and by the looks of her smiley selfie, you can tell she agrees. And it's especially wonderful to see her looking happy and confident, since her recent interview with Oprah, in which Tamera opens up about the horrendous criticism she's endured about her interracial marriage, has gone viral. She tells Oprah,
People choose to look past love and spew hate. That's what hurts me. Because I've never experienced so much hate ever in my life, ever. I get called 'white man's whore'. The new one was, 'back in the day, you cost $300. But now you're giving it to him for free.' Stuff that I- me, as a person- could never even fathom. I can't even think of these words... I'm a product of it. My mom is beautiful black woman and my dad is an amazing white man. I grew up seeing a family. I didn't grow up seeing, 'oh, a white person.' So it's very shocking to go through this. This is the big one. They say, 'Tia's a true black woman because she married a black man.' I'm less of a black person because I married white?
Unbelievable. It's so inspring to see her responding to such horrific comments with strength and assertiveness. What an incredible role model. Tamera goes on to add,
I love my husband so much, I love our family, I love our dynamic. I'm proud to be in the relationship that I am because it's based on love. Pure love.
Right on. She's eloquent, she's beautiful, and we're crazy grateful to see someone so deserving in the spotlight again.
