Student rapped for punk hairstyle attacks teacher with 'kerambit'

Kangar district police deputy chief Deputy Superintendent Ismail Che Isa said the boy was turned away by the 50-year old male teacher at the school gate at 7am.

He said the boy turned up with his mother 30 minutes later and they argued with the teacher.

'Suddenly, the student whipped out a small curved knife called 'Kerambit' and swung it across the teacher's face.

'The teacher managed to avoid it but sustained a slight scratch above his right eyebrow,' Ismail said.

He said the student's mother, in her 40s, who was stunned by her son's violent act, tried to stop him but failed. The boy fled the scene afterwards.

The teacher later lodged a police report before seeking treatment at the Kuala Perlis Health Clinic.

'We have recorded the parent's statement and are still waiting for the parents to surrender the boy to assist investigation,' added Ismail.

Perlis Education Department director Dun Kasa, when contacted said, they would leave it to the police to investigate the incident and the department would also conduct its own probe.

'The mother of the student will also be called in to give her statement before we decide on the next course of action,' he said.
