A new boutique has opened in Jackson, Tennessee that is devoted to offering the plus size woman a place where she can shop AND get her hair and makeup done. What a great concept!
This new salon boutique is called Hips, Curves, and Bangs and their mission is to encourage all women to love their size by offering complete styling for the modern plus size woman through stylish clothes, hair services and beautiful makeup. They carry clothing from casual to formalwear in sizes 16 - 32. They even carry custom leggings from Chubby Cartwheels (a great brand created by designer Shawna Farmer out of Portland, Oregon), bodysuits, bandeau tops and more. They also carry jewelry, handbags and shoes.
Owner Julie Faulder knew she wanted to open a salon but with over 300 beauty salons in the area, she wanted to be different. She told the Jackson Sun newspaper in an interview:
'An idea evolved that there had never been anywhere I could buy cute clothes for plus-size women. I do hair, and I love making women look and feel beautiful, and it gives them confidence when they go to school or work. I want to be able to give plus-sized women the same options as smaller-sized women.'
We hope the opening of this plus size salon boutique will inspire others to open their own plus size salon boutiques across the US. Kudos to Julie Faulder for coming up with a brilliant idea that is so needed by all women.
