Google Glass Is Coming to Hair Salons Everywhere

I know some of you are thinking that the world should stop trying to make Google Glass happen. I've had my cynical moments too, but then I saw it in action at a hair salon. I officially get it now-and here's why.

Starting next year, about 400 stylists across the country will be trained to use The Matrix Eye for Style Google Glass Salon Chair. Here's how it works: stylists and colorists wear the techy glasses, which record their techniques from their own POV. They then share the video with clients who want to replicate the styles at home. George Papanikolas at the Andy LeCompte Salon in West Hollywood (above) charges an additional $100 for the service, but it provides clients with detailed instructions for doing their own hair like a professional. And they can also take the video to other salons to ensure they always get the exact look requested.

I tried out the service, and it's definitely very cool-I felt like I was getting a blowout in Tony Stark's lab. When I opened up the recording at home, the quality was a little fuzzy (they're probably still working out a few kinks), but I loved learning exactly how to hold each brush and from every angle. Maybe one day we'll have robotic arms mounted on our bathroom walls to give us perfect, shiny waves every morning, but for now, this is a cool bit of futuristic hair tech.
