Cindy Joseph's New 'Do Is Short

Makeup artist and model Cindy Joseph constantly wows us with her wise outlook on life (she brands her cosmetics as pro-aging) and her breathtaking good looks (she's not a model for nothin'). So, when we caught wind of her plans to cut her long, silver hair into a pixie, we immediately wanted all the details.

Joseph's new 'do is short, wispy, and romantic; it's long in some places and cropped in others for an interesting, asymmetrical finish that offsets the multidimensional tones in her hair. So, how did this cut come about? The model had removed the hair extensions she'd worn for 14 years and let her stylist cut what was left. 'She used my hair's unique wave and texture, my head shape, and growth pattern as a guide,' Joseph tells us. 'I wanted a cut that would allow my hair to look as attractive and healthy as possible, without being obligated to use products or blowdry it.'

'It was a huge jump in perception to see my soft, delicate, wispy hair as attractive,' Joseph continues, explaining that before this cut, she thought her super-fine hair would look better longer. Joseph says that with her new 'do, 'I feel more like me.'

As for how she's styling her new crop, Joseph has been using a small curling iron on the sides of her head to train her hair to stay behind her ears. 'I've been sweeping my bangs across my forehead, too,' she adds. 'I've also experimented with mousse, gel, and balm, and so far prefer the balm because the other two make my hair too sticky and crunchy.'

In short, Joseph says she loves her new cut: 'I'm celebrating my age and my own unique head of hair that Mother Nature designed specifically for me.'
