Sinéad O'Connor Wears Black Wig, Looks Unrecognizable on New Album Cover

Style News Now

Sinéad O'Connor has come a long way from wearing the ripped jeans and combat boots she was known for in the '80s and '90s. The singer, 47, is getting ready to release her 10th studio album, I'm Not Bossy, I'm the Boss, and judging by the cover art, she's been taking style notes straight out of the Britney book.

Clad in a black second-skin leather dress (which completely covers her large Jesus torso tattoo), O'Connor wears a banged wig and dramatic smoky eye as she clutches a guitar in the photo. Maybe this album marks an alter-ego of sorts for the outspoken Irish star, whose past covers have been very raw and emotional.

The singer turned to her website to share the inspiration behind the name of her latest record. 'Just a note to explain the title of my forthcoming album IS taken from Sheryl Sandberg's Ban Bossy campaign,' she wrote. 'Originally I had a different title, The Vishnu Room, but a few months back when I saw the phrase 'I'm not bossy, I'm the boss' and became aware of the Ban Bossy campaign, I wished I could re-name the album, since indeed it can be tricky being a female boss and I think Sheryl's campaign is a terribly important one.'

I'm Not Bossy, I'm the Boss will be released Aug. 12. Are you excited for her new music? What do you think of her new look? -Brittany Talarico
