It's a beautiful life: Final Touch Beauty Salon celebrating its ninth year in ...

The Final Touch Beauty Salon is celebrating its ninth anniversary in Lehigh Acres and owner/operator Delta Lopez of Lehigh, says she is doing exactly what she has wanted to do in life and making her clients, both men and women look better with a new hair style or a great haircut, makes her and her staff happy.

Lopez says that she has seen the drop of business during the recent Great Recession and how it hit Lehigh hard, but things are improving and business is good. And for that, she says she is thankful.

'Some hair styling businesses had to go out of business during those times but I think business is improving now for others in Lehigh,' she said. 'Things are looking up.'

Things are good at Final Touch, which is located at 111 Homestead Rd., Unit 23, next to the Dollar General store in the Winn-Dixie Shopping Center. She is joined by five full-time employees one manicurist, three hairstylers and one massage therapist.

During their celebration of opening in May nine years ago, Final Touch is offering good prices for such things as pedicures and manicures, any chemical service and facial service. A body wrap will get you the first one free and the second one at half price.

The staff is personable and friendly and their clientele comes from a variety of cultures.

'I think we're an international beauty salon,' Lopez said with a big smile. 'Our clients come from all backgrounds which represents the diversity we have here in Lehigh,' she said.

She is especially proud of the work for Spanish, blacks and whites and all others.

'Some of our African American clients love the way we can straighten their hair. We're glad to make them happy,' she said.

Lopez said she once owned a restaurant in the Boston area and she worked almost 24/7 and said even though she learned about handling a business, the hours were too long for a young mother with a son.

She was inspired, she says, by her own hair stylist up north who told her she thought she had the talent in the hair styling profession.

The single mother of three sons now, 16, 15, and 12, looks back and remembers how hard it was to be a single mom when she was younger, but she says she has been blessed.

She has two years of college under her belt and one day she might go back to take more subjects in the business field.

'But who knows, we're doing fine and we are very happy. Our clients keep coming back and those who moved way and have returned they have come back.

'That makes me very happy that these people have so much faith in us,' she said.

Final Touch offers a variety of services including waxing and all types of skin care attention. She is from the Dominican Republic and is bilingual, which is a tremendous asset for her business.

Atop the big sign over her entrance to her business is posted: Final Touch Barber and Beauty and she has a clientele of men who drop in to get their hair cut, too. And for $12 it's a real deal, even with a nice tip.

Like others, she said she has had her 'rocky moments' when the economy soured, but agreed business if good and getting better.

Some who were unable to see her as often as they wanted are coming back as regulars. Lopez says Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are her busiest days.

'We accept walk-ins, but I would really suggest people make an appointment by calling 239-369-3100 especially during the weekend when everyone wants to have their hair done.

And Lopez says in an ad that they are always looking for experienced hairstylers and hopefully they are bilingual.

'My hair stylist up north advised me to go to school for hair styling after I decided to get out of the restaurant business. I am very happy that she did. Her encouragement is what caused me to do it,' Lopez said.

She is an attractive woman with long dark hair and can bring out the beauty in anyone who comes to her salon.

'We want to make them feel good about themselves. We can do any style they want and today, there is a variety of hair styles that can be chosen.

'We're here to make you happy with the way you look. If you haven't been here yet, come and help us celebrate our ninth year of being in Lehigh.

'It has been lots of fun,' she said.
