Beauty salon opens on Wood Street

38 Wood Street has been a location for beauty services in Willits for nearly 40 years.
Owner Toshi Almena recently opened Toshi's Beautiful People Salon, located where Ron's Old Beauty Shop once was, on April 4.
'It's a hometown salon for sure. I've had people come in, introduce themselves, and tell me that they have been coming in here since they were five-years-old,' said Toshi.
Toshi and her two stylists, Noel McQueeney and Valeria Kuwatch, are available Mondays by appointment only, Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Toshi's is an Aveda exclusive salon. Both, Toshi and McQueeny, are certified Aveda color specialists. The salon offers a wide range of services, including cuts, colors, botanical hair and scalp therapy, perms, and facial waxing.
Services may include a scalp or hand massage and aromatherapy. 'All services include complimentary moments of wellness,' said Toshi.
Aveda produces beauty products, from hair care to makeup, using as many naturally derived ingredients as possible, said Toshi.
The mission statement of Aveda is one that Toshi can stand behind, and, as the owner of an Aveda salon, is proud to promote.

Similar to Aveda, Toshi also has plans to become more involved in the community and hopes that as an up and coming business owner she can give back to the community that has shown her so much support.
Toshi has been happy to call Willits home for 18 years and has been a licensed stylist since 1991. She has done hair in both Ukiah and Willits and many of her loyal customers have followed her through her moves, she said.
Toshi's offers a full line of Aveda hair care products and will be carrying body and skin care products in the near future.
