A teenager who studied hairdressing before leaving school has opened her own business, Power Cutz, in Market Street, North Walsham.

Rachel Power, 19, from nearby Gimingham, started her apprenticeship when she was just 14 years old.

She gained experience at The Priory hair salon in North Walsham, and studied at John Oliver's Academy, in Norwich. After qualifying, Ms Power rented a chair at The Priory and, when it moved to Coltishall, she decided to set up her own business.

Miss Power said her ambition had always been to become a mechanic like her father, brother and grandfather, before her mother persuaded her to try something else.
