BETHEL - Linda Tahan-Stein is sharing the joy of opening her own business, using her skills with hair to make clients feel beautiful at LTS Hair Studio,47 Stony Hill Rd.She told Voices, 'This is my dream, working for myself and helping people.'Her professional and personal experiences have given her the ability to provide a great style to not only men, women, and chil- dren with a healthy head of hair but to anyone who is suffering from hair loss due to hormone deficiencies, medications, heredi- ty, or age.'I can help people with thin- ning hair or hair loss due to can- cer, or even someone who wants to wear a wig for a fun change without the commitment of a complete color change.'
The unique layout of the salon lends itself well to Ms. Tah- an-Stein's ability to address hair issues with sensitive and confi- dentiality.Several professionals share the suite, each with its own private room.'If we want privacy, we can close the door. My customers like that because a few of them don't want to sit and feel as if people are staring at them.'A client told Voices how much she appreciates Ms. Tah- an-Stein's ability to not only help but also provide sympathy and confidentiality.'I'd be devastated if any-one knew [about my hair loss] but Linda's good about it,' she explained.
'Linda wants to work with her clients and everything she does is for our benefit. I feel really confident when I go out. I'm a very active person and I can't tell you how she's changed my life.'All consultations are free of charge and Ms. Tahan-Stein will visit a client's home if necessary.She lost her mother to cancer and feels it's important that no one should suffer from a problem when she can help by providing a solution.Not only can she advise a client on how to prepare paperwork for insurance claims or seek assis- tance from the American Can- cer Society or a hospital, she has developed a talent for creating a natural look.'I help as much as I can with shampoos and conditioners or shaping the wig with a good cut.'She added, 'I can offer human hair and synthetic wigs.' While a real hair can provide a certain look, it requires more care than a synthetic wig, which can be a factor for someone undergoing treatments that deplete the body of energy.In addition to three decades of experience, she takes classes to learn more about her field.'I am grateful for what I've earned about non-surgical hair replacement and the opportunity to use that knowledge but I also like helping people style their own hair.'Hair treatments include ombres, straightening, coloring, highlights.'I use a color line that is organ- ic with no parabens, sulfates, gluten, salt, sugar, or PPD. My clients are happy with it and I use it on my own hair. I love it.'She noted that sometimes she combines skills, such as adding extensions and an ombre effect.'I can do single keratin exten- sions, strand by strand, or tape- in extensions. Women like to get that ombre look without bleach- ing their hair.'LTS Hair Studio also offers glazes to add color, conditioning and shine.Ms. Tahan-Stein smiled, 'I've been in business for a long time and, when I opened my own place, many customers stayed loyal to me.
