PwC makes second Turcan Connell hire

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has hired its second Turcan Connell adviser, as it builds its investment advice division.

Kirsty Thomson (pictured), former financial planner and solicitor at Edinburgh-based Turcan Connell Group has become a manager within PwC's advice arm, advising private clients in its Edinburgh office.

She had worked at Turcan Connell since October 2009 and trained as both a solicitor and a planner.

Thomson follows Turcan Connell's former head of financial planning Bob Hair, who joined PwC in January as director of the investment advice arm, where he aims to grow its family office services.

Hair said Thomson's experience as a qualified financial planner and solicitor would bring opportunities for the family office service. 'Kirsty is a qualified solicitor and financial planner so brings a very interesting array of skills and experience,' said Hair.

'She can help with international tax wealth structuring and bring her knowledge of the UK legal framework to help the needs of private clients.'

PwC's investment advice division has 40 advisers across the UK.

Hair was at Turcan Connell Asset Management from 2004 until November 2013. 'PwC is seeing an increased demand for its services in the private client arena so we welcome the opportunity to attract talented individuals,' he said.

Following Hair's departure from Turcan Connell, Derek Blaik was appointed financial planning director.

Before joining Turcan Connell, Hair was an area manager at Gerrard Investment Management, since taken over by Barclays, and a financial planning consultant at Scottish Widows.
