Key Largo gets a new beauty salon

BeautyWorks, a new salon in Key Largo, offers 'personalized pampering' on services ranging from stylish haircuts to indoor tanning.

The salon, owned by 30-year industry veteran Tammy Beaton, features haircuts, styling and color; skin care; manicures and pedicures; two tanning beds; and a full array of top-of-the-line products.

BeautyWorks is Beaton's third salon, the first one in the Keys. She worked in local salons for a number of years before leaving the area for a short period. She soon realized 'the Keys is where I want to be.'

The instructor, educator and distributor is the salon's skin-care and nails expert.

'My skin-care treatments are targeted to achieve optimal results,' she said. 'We offer rejuvenating facial packages, microdermabrasion, facial sculpting, peels and relaxing European facials.'

Natural nail care is available, as are nail enhancements. Two spa pedicure chairs are sanitized to high standards, Beaton said.

'We are using only professional products,' she noted. 'We recycle and use 100 percent vegan and environmentally friendly products. The shop is brand new, super clean and beautiful.

'Our hair-color lines are Goldwell and Pravana and our retail line is by Soma, the only true pH-balanced products on the market,' Beaton said.

Joining her in the salon are Kris McAvoy, color specialist and hair designer with 30 years of experience; and Darla Perry, a transplant from Oklahoma who sports a hot-pink hair style and has 14 years of styling under her belt.

BeautyWorks also has two tanning beds, a standard prone-type bed as well as a stand-up bed that looks like something from a 'Star Trek' movie.

The salon is open Monday through Saturday, with late hours on Tuesday and Thursday. A grand opening, with a date to be announced, is being planned at the shop, in Plaza 101, 100680 Overseas Highway.
