Cornrows are nothing new, but it wasn't until recently that the hairstyle favored by Snoop Dogg began appearing on runways. We saw them at Adam Selman (the man behind Rihanna's naked dress) for fall, as well as Marchesa, and most recently (and in our opinion the most wearable) at Kenzo resort.
Hairstylist Akki Shirakawa created a modern French braid for the presentation—half of the models had four plaits, and half only two. 'To achieve the cool and futuristic Kenzo hairstyle, I wanted to create a sleek and square silhouette with dry textured braids to give the look of cornrows,' he said. We think this style is perfect for a summer BBQ or rooftop party, so we had him give us an exclusive tutorial on how to achieve the look in five easy steps.

Step 1: Prep damp hair with Kérastase Touche Finale concentrating on the ends. This will make the hair smooth and easier to handle when creating the braids.
Step 2: Create a center part and apply Kérastase Boucles d'Art and Spray a Porter from roots to the ends to give your hair body and dry texture. Work the product into your hair by finger combing as you blowdry until you achieve a beachy texture.
Step 3: After your hair is completely dry, spray a touch of Kérastase Powder Bluff dry shampoo to accentuate the overall texture.
Step 4: Divide your hair into either two or four sections depending on your preference. Take each section and split into three small sections so that two strands are held in one hand, and the third strand is held in the opposite hand. French braid the hair by taking the strand on the right and crossing it over the center, then taking the strand from the left and crossing it over the center and so forth. Continue this pattern, gradually incorporating other pieces of hair. When there is nothing to add, carry on braiding as normal. When you reach the end, secure with a small rubber band, and repeat for each section. Try to keep each braid tight, but not too close to the head.
Step 5: Spray your head with Kérastase Laque Dentelle hairspray to finish and hold the look. A few fly aways are totally okay.
