DUI crash into Aurora hair salon and dealership

AURORA - Aurora Police arrested a suspected drunk driver after he crashed into a hair salon and three parked cars at a Chevrolet dealership.

Police found the Honda Civic about midnight in the parking lot of Ed Bozarth Chevrolet at 2001 S. Havana St.

The Civic was on its roof, partially resting on top of two cars in the dealership lot.

Aurora Police said the destruction started at a shopping center across the street.

An officer on scene told 9NEWS the driver of the Civic picked up his wife from a spa.

At some point, the driver crashed into the front end up of the Hair Story Salon at 2020 S. Havana St.

The impact left a large hole in the brick building and pieces of the Civic scattered on the sidewalk.

Police believe the driver of the Civic drove across the parking lot, ran over some bushes and crossed six lanes of traffic on Havana to reach the car dealership across the street.

Police said the Civic hit one dealer car, likely went airborne and rolled over before hitting two other cars.

The driver was not injured, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Aurora Police believe the man's wife was in the car with him, though they were still investigating.

An Aurora building inspector arrived overnight to check out the damage to the Hair Story Salon.

The inspector told 9NEWS the building looked to be structurally sound, though he would return early Monday to look at the inside.

Police said the driver of the Honda Civic would be charged with DUI.
