Popular Japan hair salon chain to open second Hawaii location


The popular Japan hair salon chain 'afloat' plans to open its second Hawaii location in Kaimuki called 'terra Waialae 10th' on Wednesday.


Located at the Lafite Plaza, the former Harry's Music Building at 3457 Waialae Ave., the new salon features a 'Shampoo Bar,' which includes hair products and machines from Japan, as well as hair services and detailed counseling.


Stylists will pick a shampoo and treatment that fits each customer's hair.


Yosuke Kobayashi, director of terra Waialae 10th, said that as part of its future plans, it is looking to hire more staff and expand its business to other locations.


Terra by afloat, which has locations throughout Japan, Taiwan and Shanghai, opened its first salon in Hawaii on Pensacola Street in Honolulu about four years ago.


The afloat chain, which is frequented by celebrities in its home country, has a very loyal following.
