This has been the official Week of Beyonce, and while the world continues to obsess over the surprise album she dropped last Thursday at midnight, I'm excited to relay some of the secrets behind her blond hair in the corresponding videos.
Beyonce's colorist, Rita Hazan, says the singer 'can basically have any hair color, as long as it's the right tone and style.' Aside from the obvious-Beyonce is beautiful-there's the way Rita uses highlights to create a multi-dimensional look. Another trick is keeping Bey's roots dark. 'The roots give an edgier look, and with her olive skin, the darkness at the roots is needed to add depth, so she can go very light while complimenting her skin tone,' Rita says. 'A solid blonde can wash out anyone with an olive skin tone, so the roots help to give the color depth.'
