(WHEATON) A man already sentenced to 14 years in prison for robbing 11 hair salons in Chicago and the Cook County suburbs in 2012 and 2013, was sentenced Monday after admitting to four DuPage County robberies.
Jason Logsdon, 42, was sentenced last Wednesday to 14 years in prison for robbing 11 establishments in Chicago, Skokie, Niles, Morton Grove and Broadview, the Cook County State's Attorney's office said.
On Monday, he pleaded guilty to robbing four more businesses in Bensenville, Lombard and Glen Ellyn, according to the DuPage County State's Attorney's office.
Judge Daniel Guerin sentenced him to 14 years in prison for the DuPage County robberies, with the term to be served concurrently with the sentence from Cook County, a statement from prosecutors said.
Logsdon, of Chicago, would point a pellet gun at clerks and demand cash during the robberies between late 2012 and early 2013, authorities said.
The robbery spree ended Feb. 4, 2013, when Logsdon was arrested after robbing the Great Clips salon at 1238 N. Ashland in Chicago, Cook County prosecutors said. An employee followed him and got his license plate number as he drove away, and police identified the vehicle's owner as Logsdon's girlfriend.
A search of the vehicle turned up the BB gun and backpack used in all of the robberies, many of which were captured on video, prosecutors said. Several of the salon employees later identified Logsdon in lineups.
Logsdon told police he used the money to support a crack cocaine habit and targeted hair salons because most of the employees were women, and he thought the crimes would be less risky, prosecutors said.
He will have to serve at least half of his sentence before he is eligible for parole, according to DuPage County prosecutors.
