From her signature spikes to her soft side swept hair, Halle Berry may have one of the most distinctive hairstyles in Hollywood. Her piece-y pixie cut has been the envy of women everywhere.
We recently caught up with the mastermind behind Halle's hairstyle, award-winning stylist Neeko. When he's not working at Salon Sessions, Neeko's racking up a glittering client list that includes some of the biggest names in the industry - Pink, Charlize Theron, Chris Brown, Iman and Tyra Banks just to name a few.
I mean he did win the North American Hairstyling Award, not once, but a whopping four times including Hairstylist of the Year for 2012. Check out our interview with this hair maverick below.
How did you get involved with hair?
I met a youth counselor who was a barber and introduced me to the trade.
Who was the first celebrity you worked on?
Tisha Campbell from Martin
I was the #1 up and coming stylist who was chosen to work with a make up artist and wanted me to do hair for a new artist. And 2 years later she became Halle Berry.
Where do you look to for inspiration when doing HalleCelebrities from the past that inspire you? 's hair? What was one great conversation you had with her when working on her hair?
I look at what she'll be wearing and what event she's going to. But her hair is her trade mark so we just do variations of her classic look.
What are some big hair trends for fall and winter?
Pink, Missy Elliot and Mary J. Blige
What is the craziest story you have from working with a celebrity?
Talking about how we came up together through the years and the hybrid of the business. Speaking every language and showing up in character without compromise.
Short hair is king right now. But you'll also see a lot of messy texture.
I was doing hair for the Moulin Rouge performance for the Grammy's and right before they were about to go on, I requested hairspray, and was handed water instead!! No big sexy hair for that performance
