Winter might be one of my favourite seasons, but the shift in the weather means it wreaks havoc with your beauty regime - not to mention the damage to your tresses.Millie Mackintosh talks helping your hair survive the bleak winter months in this week's blog [Yahoo Lifestyle ... I've wanted to treat my hair to a Keratin hair treatment for ages now and what with all the gloomy skies, October rain and the impact of central heating, now seems as good a time as any.
My hairdresser Miguel at Josh Wood Altiler has been telling me all about the benefits - it helps to condition and reconstruct damaged hair by putting a natural protein on the hair - so I've decided to give it a go - hopefully it means I can ditch the hats I've been hiding under!
Millie tried out a keratin hair treatment to inject the life back into her tresses this week [Yahoo Lifestyle] My hair is naturally wavy and if left to dry naturally, it goes fluffy and frizzy. What with the new addition of a fringe, this really isn't a good look and I don't always have time to blow dry or straighten my hair.
Like most people, I often put my hair under a lot of stress. If I'm going to a meeting straight from the gym I normally give my hair a quick once-over with a hair dryer and then use my steam pod to smooth out any frizzyness.
I always have my mini Mark Hill straighteners with me in my handbag most of the time for emergencies. Then, if I'm going for a night out, I like to add a wave into my hair using a wide-barrelled tong. Parting sections of my hair and always going away from my face, I aim for a relaxed 70's style.
However, this inevitably takes it's toll on my hair. It winds up meaning lots of heated irons on my hair most days of the week along with lots of product, like hair spray, which all helps to further dry it out.
The keratin treatment promises to help this, thanks to a natural protein called formaldehyde. This is enriched with keratin to form a mild chemical solution which, once applied, sits on the hair cuticle, where the keratin conditions and reconstructs even the most wiry locks.
Using am combination of Wella's Illumina colour followed by Nanokeratin, the treatment was left to soak into the hair root before being taken off.
I immediately noticed the difference too, as I felt a huge improvement in my overall condition and it's even helped my control my flyaway fringe!
Millie Mackintosh shows off the results of her treatment with this sleek look [Yahoo Lifestyle] If your tresses are struggling to keep their shine and overall health thanks to the winter season, then I'd definitely recommend the keratin treatment - but you can also fight the frizz at home.
