Offering environmentally friendly products and a relaxing place to unwind

The Sevens Hair Studio and Spa which recently opened at 204 Chambersburg Street in Gettysburg may be new, said co-owner Jen Bollinger, but it offers the same high quality service from several stylists that customers have appreciated at other shops. It also offers environmentally friendly Aveda hair and skin products, Bollinger said.

The new salon was co-founded by Bollinger with her fiance` Joel Desotello in August. Bollinger, whose maiden name was Noel, graduated from Littlestown High School in 1994 and honed her craft in hair salons in the Hanover area after graduating from Empire Beauty School, she said.

'I've wanted to be a hair stylist since I was in 9th grade,' Bollinger said, 'Opening my own shop is a dream come true.'

The name 'The Sevens' depicts a link between Desotello and herself, Bollinger said, as both are 'sevens' in numerology and the salon project was a combined effort between them. While Desotello is not a hair stylist himself, Bollinger said, he is an avid user of the Aveda hair products, as she is herself.

The Aveda products are the first beauty company that manufacture with 100 percent wind power, Bollinger said. All Aveda products are 95 percent naturally derived ingredients which are not only environmentally friendly, Bollinger said, but are also a healthful alternative to chemically laden cosmetics.

'Aveda is not only good for your hair and skin, it also smells fantastic,' Bollinger said.

While their beauty and hair care line was pre-determined by their desire to give customers the perfect product, said Bollinger, getting ready for the opening of their new salon took many months of decisions and hard work.

She and Desotello completely renovated the spacious building about two blocks west of the Gettysburg Square, Bollinger said, putting in many special touches such as a large and airy waiting room, five stylist chairs in a charmingly appointed salon, a separate and comfortable private pedicure and manicure room, a massage therapy room, plus a soon-to-be finished separate and private 'waxing' room.

'Our top priority is excellent customer service,' Bollinger said, 'We want to offer a special place where people can relax and unwind.'

In addition to herself the shop also boasts two other locally known and extremely talented stylists from the Hanover area: Sandy Kell and Chelsi Zepp. The salon is also pleased to offer the services of certified massage therapist Jen Cook.

Walk-ins are welcome for services including haircuts and styling; hair coloring; special event 'up-dos'; waxing; manicures; and pedicures but appointments are appreciated. Stylist service is available for women, men and children.
