Ambler >> Do It Yourself design experts and Ambler residents Mark and Theresa Clement are on a mission to help men take back their share of the bathroom.

The hosts of the radio show 'My Fix it Up Life' have partnered with Dove Men + Care for a new campaign called 'Hair to the Throne.'

According to Dove, a majority of men surveyed claimed they controlled one-third of the bathroom space for their things and would often use their partner's products, including shampoo, rather than purchase products designed for their needs. To try to reverse this trend, Dove enlisted the Clements and held a sweepstakes, which granted one lucky grand prize winner a $15,000 complete bathroom makeover to give men more space in the bathroom. The company is also awarding a $10,000 and $5,000 prize for the runners-up. The contest drawing ran from Sept. 29 through Oct. 24 and the winner will be announced within the next few weeks.

'Mark and I are really excited to partner with Dove Men + Care,' Theresa said. 'Some of my friends were like, 'Why are you working with a shampoo and conditioner [company]?' But it really is kind of a perfect fit because their campaign is about men reclaiming a space of their own in the bathroom and we're all about trying to get couples to be able to work together and have a happy marriage and a happy life.'

'One of the things that particularly hit home for us was, it was about a fair share,' Mark added. 'It wasn't about half, it wasn't about a line painted down the middle, it wasn't about spouse wars on whatever television network you might watch. It's about a fair share and getting along. That speaks to both of us.'

The impetus for the campaign began when representatives from Dove listened to the radio show and reached out to the Clements. The couple's popularity has grown recently from the show that deals with DIY projects, along with the various videos and articles they've created.

'They were kind of looking for a perfect fit for what they were trying to track down,' Theresa said. 'We're just so thrilled they found us.'

The couple admitted they have been following Dove's lead since the campaign first began and are remodeling their own bathroom to make it a little more masculine and give Mark more of a space of his own.

'We're even going to be putting a urinal in that bathroom,' Theresa said.
