Beauty Police: Amy Adams Sports Bulletproof Hair and Gorgeous Natural ...

We need Amy Adams to slowly step away from the hair gel. Was the Oscar-nominated actress afraid that someone was going to throw a drink at her during last night's Vanity Fair Campaign Hollywood 'American Hustle' Toast event, which is why she armed herself with a hair helmet made of gel and hairspray?

While we can't fathom a valid reason as to why the American Hustle star would purposely leave the house with that hair, we are loving her natural-looking makeup. The 39-year-old strawberry blonde actress knows that a subtle peaches and cream palette brings out the best in her fair features.

Beauty Bailout: It looks like we're going to need to have a styling product intervention with Ms. Adams. Way too much gel and hairspray were used to pull her hair back into this helmet. Had she insisted on a slick style, we would have added in a ton of volume at the crown and given her more of a faux hawk look.

But we probably would have tried talking her out of the oil slick look altogether and suggested that she wear a top chignon or smooth waves with such a feminine dress.

Get the Look: The one good thing about Amy's severe hairstyle is that it brings attention to her ultra-flattering makeup. Get the look by applying a brightening primer that will fill in fine lines and pores, like Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer and Brightener.

Then, apply a hydrating foundation with buildable coverage that won't settle into fine lines and wrinkles like Chantecaille Future Skin. After using concealer to cover up any darkness or redness, apply an anti-aging, smoothing eye primer like Votre Vu Lingerie Pour Les Yeux to your entire upper eye area.

Next, apply a pale peach pink shimmer eye shadow like Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Ballet Pink to your lids. When you get to the outer corners of your eyes, create a V-shape with the outer corners of your eyes and creases, pulling the brush upwards towards the outer corners of your eyebrows.

Now, with an eyeliner brush apply a shimmer champagne eye shadow like Bobbi Brown Shimmer Eye Wash Shadow in Champagne to the inner corners of your eyes and along the lower lash line.

Define eyes by lining your upper lash line with a black eyeliner pencil like Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner in Cosmic Black. Also line the outer corner of the lower lash line to make eyes appear bigger. Complete the eye makeup with two to three coats of your favorite volume-building mascara.

Get Amy's peaches and cream pucker by exfoliating lips first with a sugar scrub or your toothbrush. Then apply an ultra-hydrating peach lip gloss like Burt's Bees Lip Gloss in Sunny Day.

We certainly hope Amy doesn't shellac her locks back on Sunday night. She has such amazing hair! There is no excuse for this look! What happened to the cascading Old Hollywood tresses we saw just a week ago at the Costume Designers Guild Awards?

She better not try pulling these crispy tress shenanigans on Sunday. We're expecting no less than all-out classic glamour...
