A New York speaking engagement gave Vanessa Hudgens the perfect opportunity to showcase her brand new hair colour - less than a day after she gave followers a sneak peek in a string of shots added to her Twitter account.

The 24-year-old actress was amongst the guests at the Unbound Access presented by Hearst Magazine on Tuesday night, and she seized the opportunity to give her latest look its first public outing.

Indeed, the long dark locks she's known for have undergone something of an autumnal transformation following a visit to the Hello Beautiful Salon in the Big Apple over the weekend.

The actress suggested as much herself in her most recent Twitter shot, in which she poses next to a tree filled with brown autumn leaves.

An accompanying tweet reads: 'May hair has finally found a home #vermont #fallcolors #obsessed.'

Arriving at the event at Hearst offices in Midtown, Marie Claire cover-girl Vanessa looked chic in a loose white blouse and leather skirt with distinctive zip detail.

The monochrome outfit was completed by a pair of conventional black heels, with the neutral theme serving to draw attention to her hair which - along with a slash of blood red lipstick - provided the only hint of colour.

Vanessa was joined at the event by Australian model Miranda Kerr - another Hearst favourite having graced the cover of Cosmopolitan, one of the publisher's flagship titles.

The 30-year-old beauty opted for a clinging sleeveless dress, decorated with an eclectic pattern featuring shades of maroon, white, and black.

Miranda teamed the piece with a pair of bright cobalt stiletto pumps, contrasting with her blush Prada handbag that was much more conservative.

Designer Zac Posen also attended the event, which was organised as part of Heart's 'Magfront' campaign to generate advertising support for 2014.

Speaking to the November issue of Cosmo, Miranda opened up about some of the difficulties faced by catwalk models. 'Models are some of the most insecure people I've ever met,' she said. 'They're constantly being told they're not good enough.

'You've really got to practice loving yourself.'
