Local salon raises money and awarenses for breast cancer with pink hair ...

SYRACUSE -- For Annette Knapp, talking about breast cancer brings back a flood of emotions. The owner of Salon Bellezza on Loma Avenue lost her mother to the disease 20 years ago.

'I was 33 at the time and pregnant with my daughter and no more time than then do you need your mother. So when I delivered I wanted her there and it was hard,' says Knapp.

Years later, her life is being touched by breast cancer again, as her sister goes in for a lumpectomy.

'We are very confident she's going to be ok. With all the research they've done, they've made strides with breast cancer. We are thinking positive,' says Knapp.

Stylist Isabel Claps knows about the importance of getting a mammogram after her own bout with breast cancer.

'I've personally had two lumpectomys, luckily both benign. I'm constantly aware of my own health and concerned about the disease,' says Claps.

Salon Bellezza is offering pink hair extensions for the entire month of October, with no appointment necessary.
