Beyoncé debuted a new hairstyle Tuesday while boarding a flight out of a Paris airport and it almost looked like she sheared it herself.
Queen Bey's new bangs are super short and blunt, à la Audrey Hepburn circa 'Funny Face' or, more accurately, Moe of The Three Stooges.
'I don't know why she did this,' says Max Gierl, senior stylist at Mizu New York. 'Her hair is too pretty to have those kind of bangs. They're too heavy looking and too blunt.'
Mrs. Carter has fooled us before, however. Last August, Beyoncé posted an Instagram photo showing a super-short pixie cut, only to show up at a VMAs after-party with voluminous shoulder-length curls.
It's possible that the singer was inspired by fellow A-list bangers such as Jessica Chastain, who recently debuted stringy eyebrow-length bangs, or Taylor Swift, who typically brushes her blond fringe to the side for an Old Hollywood look.
Beyoncé's long-time hair stylist Kim Kimble was unavailable for comment, so it's anyone's guess if this new style is a spoof or here to stay. Other stylists are impressed, even if the 'Flawless' singer is faking it.
'It is a very edgy look,' says Matrix celebrity stylist George Papanikolas, adding that he thinks it's a wig. 'It is more than likely not cut on her original hair.'
