Start-up Madison Reed began chipping away the long national horror of bad home-hair coloring by allowing users to order online professional grade at-home hair color kits. Now the service is doing consumers one better- it is launching an Uber-like app that will allow users to order a hair stylist for a hair-care house-call.
The service sends a professional colorist, or Colorista (the preferred nomenclature), to the user's home, office or hotel. After a brief consultation, the Colorista paints up the user. The door-to-door the service, which includes consultation, demonstration, color application and blow-dry, costs $99.
Color to You is currently solely focused on bring hair dye to the homes, hearts and minds of American, but says they could consider branching out to include hair extensions and manicures in the future, if the service takes off.
'When we created Madison Reed, we stood in 50 women's bathrooms and watched them self-color their hair, noting the pain points in the application process and brainstorming how we can fix them. Today, we're introducing Color To You to help women master hair coloring with an expert on-hand to guide them through the process,' said Madison Reed Co-founder Amy Errett, reported TechCrunch.
Currently the service is only available in the San Francisco Bay area, though the service could see wider U.S. expansion late this year.
