OK, this is perhaps a bit tongue in cheek. But when I saw the sign I'm about to tell you about (the one you can probably guess by rereading the above headline), I couldn't resist.
I swam at not-my-usual LA Fitness yesterday after work. This one is smaller and older and has nary a hair dryer, but for whatever reason, I sometimes like to go there. After my laps, heading for the shower, I saw a sign taped to the wall. I am paraphrasing here, but this is the gist:
'NO HAIR DYEING IN THE SHOWERS. If you are caught doing so, you will be asked to leave and never allowed to return.'
Wow. As I posted on Facebook, if you are tempted to do this, then stop at for your after your swim, not before. One friend said the sign made her laugh, but as someone who has permanently stained her bathtub with hair dye, she understands.
As for me (not that my hair isn't its natural color, of course), it just seems that IF I were one to apply color to my hair, I would rather do so at a place where I could - oh, fold laundry or eat pita chips or water tomato plants while waiting for the solution to work its magic. The gym is fine for exercising, but do I want to spend an extra 30 minutes there with my hair coated in chemical stink? I think not.
But hey, maybe some people like that small, intimate, no-hairdryer atmosphere for all their hair-care needs. Now, though, they'd best find somewhere other then LA Fitness. Maybe the grocery store. Or better yet, CVS, where they could pick the hair color, apply in the restroom, do some more shopping, rinse out the dye, and be on their merry, no-gray way.
