Can A Haircut Change Your Career?

By now, hopefully we're all well-versed in the emotional transformation that accompanies a drastic hair switcheroo. As for the professional repercussions? Well, most of us have to rely on assets outside of our rockin' 'dos to get noticed in our field of choice. This is not so much for models. A fantastic series on The Stylecon called 'From Nada to Prada' highlights this fashion-world phenomenon, discussing the hair changes that took models' careers, well, from nada to Prada. It's a good title, okay?

Hair has the power to communicate volumes about one's personality. So, how does a model land just the right 'do to say that she's cool enough to be on the cutting edge of fashion, but is also versatile enough to successfully work for a range of brands?

The key seems to lie in the attention one's hair draws to one's cheekbones, as Kate Goodling's career trajectory shows. And, as this series points out, it seems the moment for long mermaid hair parted down the middle has passed - good news for the 98% of the population not blessed with bodacious Gisele waves. The girls that have made it big were rocking bobs that graze their collarbones and experimenting with platinum long before Karlie got all the credit.

This has us thinking a lot about our own locks. Sure, the quality of our work might not increase based on how a new cut makes (or doesn't make) our cheekbones stand out, but there is definitely something to be said for the relationship between a great hair change and one's confidence. Perhaps that's the reason behind the pixie boom - a drastic hair change can work wonders for self-esteem, and we're inspiring one another to be more daring about it. ( The Stylecon)
