Possible Treatment for Baldness and Hair Restoration is here

Baldness and hair loss are some of the problems that concern human race largely. For a long time now, humans have been rummaging through science to find a permanent treatment for baldness and hair loss. However, the good news is that scientists have found a possible treatment for baldness and hair restoration.

In their extensive research, scientists have come up with a method that has enabled them to successfully grow and then multiply human hair follicles. The research conducted shows how one follicle can grow many follicles helping in hair restoration. For the first time in the world, these lab grown cells can lead to hair growth when planted in the skin.

Scientists at Durham University, UK and Columbia University, US, have expressed that this revolutionary discovery can serve as a treatment for the problem of baldness in millions of men and women. This treatment for baldness can put an end to use of harmful drugs and hair transplant.

'We've taken a bit of tissue from hair follicles. We've taken the cells and multiplied them in culture and then shown that we can, if we put them back at a small sphere, a ball, we can then put them back into human skin and they'll start new hair follicles growing.'

'What existed before is basically the transfer of one follicle to another place. It was just moving about, if you like. What we've done differently here is taken a small bit of the follicle, a small bit of tissue, multiplying out the cells in that tissue.'

'When you put that into the skin, that structure interacts with the environment and creates a new, completely new, follicle,' explains Durham University's Professor Colin Jahoda in detail.

The researchers of this new treatment are hopeful that people will be happy. Dr. Angela Christiano, senior author of the study, believes that this treatment for baldness has the potential to transform the treatment of hair loss. Dr. Angela has been motivated to work towards the cause by her own problem of alopecia, a rare genetic disorder that leads to complete loss of hair on the human body.

In the past, many researchers had tried to come up with the treatment for baldness and hair restoration but failed. It was reckoned that they failed due to the wrong technique in utilizing papilla cells to grow hair. Scientists have now come up with a new method to do so and have witnessed success so far.

This significant study has been published recently in the journal, 'Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.'

Though further investigations are still on-going, researchers have predicted that this treatment for baldness and hair restoration will cost less than a hair transplant.
