Anne Hathaway was a true-blue stunner at the Interstellar premiere on Sunday night. Though many fans were talking about her plunging Richard Nicoll gown and dramatic jewels by James Banks Designs it was Hathaway's hair we couldn't stop staring at.
After chopping off her locks for Les Miserables in 2012, Hathaway has finally grown out her famous pixie. And we're loving her sleek new bob. On Monday we spoke to Hathaway's hairstylist, Adir Abergel, who was responsible for the fabulous Instellar style on Oct. 26. He broke down the secrets to Hathaway's fabulous new bob.
'I was inspired by the midnight-blue silk dress by Richard Nicoll and James Bank jewelry that she's wearing,' Abergel, who used Leonor Greyl products, told us. 'It reminded me of the girls in the early 1990s who wore those great slipdresses. I wanted to keep the look deconstructed to keep the same energy since the dress was flowing. So I created a look with effortless texture and movement with a '90s edge.'
First Abergel started by applying Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice. 'I applied from the roots to midshaft to create volume and memory to the style. I didn't apply any mousse to the ends of her hair to keep the weight around the structure of the head, right around the roots,' he told us.
'Then, I created a deep side part following the arch of her brow,' Abergel continued. 'I applied Éclat Naturel on the ends to give it a little more separation, but at the same time protect the hair from heat styling. Then I used a diffuser to dry her hair completely, making sure to scrunch the hair so that the natural texture came through.'
Once Hathaway's hair was completely dry, Abergel used a 3/4' curling iron. 'I created a soft, defined wave by winding it around the iron. The secret to this kind of look is to curl from the roots to the midshaft, leaving the ends out,' Abergel explained. 'It's really about just creating movement and a very loose wave, rather than a curl. This adds amazing texture and separation to give it that effortless style.'
Abergel readjusted the deep side part so that it came down and covered half of one eyebrow; which really gave it 'that' 90s edge,' he said. 'I finished the look by using Leonor Greyl Laque Souple. This locks in the style all night without weighing it down.'
'The beautiful thing about Leonor Greyl products is that they're all about healthy, beautiful texture,' Abergel told us. 'Back in the 1990s it was rougher and more bedhead. So the look still has the angles of the '90s. But I modernized it by using these quality products that brought out the health and shine of the hair.'
