As anyone who spent their teen years trying to overcome stubborn hair can attest, hair gel boasts some shady ingredients, prone to turning blonde curls into sticky, unsightly strands during years of unfortunate adolescent style experimentation. But though we don't remember finding anything we could snort in our bottles of L.A. Looks Mega Extreme Hold, it appears not everyone's hair care stays drug free: a woman was arrested at John F. Kennedy Airport last month for allegedly hiding over six pounds of cocaine in her hair product containers.
Customs officials say Erika Rodriguez de los Santos arrived at JFK on a flight from the Dominican Republic on November 18th, and authorities noticed five hair product containers in her luggage seemed unusually heavy. Upon further inspection they say they found 'an oil-like substance that tested positive for cocaine' inside all the containers, amounting to a total of 6.27 pounds.
De los Santos now faces narcotics-smuggling charges, and it is unclear whether her defense will argue that cocaine conditioner hydrates hair better than Pantene Pro-V.
