My Not

As promised, we're back and ready for Round 2. My brief but glorious stint as a 'hair' model has come and gone, but the hair remains and it's currently on top of my head. Never mind the fact that the hair is connected to a lace piece that's glued to my scalp. It's still real human hair! We're getting ahead of ourselves though.

Let's jump back to Saturday morning. I show up at CP Hair Solutions promptly at 8 a.m. Christine is waiting for me. Everyone is so nice there. We take my 'before' picture - simple stand-against-the-wall and smile. Turn to your side for a profile shot. And then, bam! I'm done with that part. Now, it's time to get the piece. I look at the thing. It's long and curly and fairly ridiculous looking. That's going to go on my head? Oh yes, Christine reassures me. I sit down in the stylist's chair and Christine begins shaving my scalp.

Too late to turn back now. As soon as that shaver crosses my scalp and removes the 'bad' hair, I know I need to commit. Christine places the piece on my head, temporarily tapes it down, and begins cutting, blending and styling it. The piece blends perfectly with the hair on the side of my head - the 'good' hair, if you will. I'm impressed with what I see. Then she applies the alcohol solution and removes the taped piece, cleans it up, and then comes back to glue it on.

The glue is called GhostBond XL. I ask Christine what XL means, and she tells me 'Extra Long.' Okay, as long as it's not permanent, I'm game. She puts the glue on my scalp and then lays the piece down on it, ever so gently. A little more cutting and styling and then we're done. I take my 'after' picture, with an audience in tow, and am on my way.

Before I go, Christine lays down a couple of rules: (1) don't use alcohol-based hair products (because it will cause the piece to become unglued); (2) you're going to want to keep messing with it, but don't; (3) come back and see me in a week so we can make any adjustments needed; and (4) don't feed the piece after midnight. Okay, maybe not that last one, but you get the idea.

So, how's it been with new hair? In a word, great. Everyone has been very complimentary and they seem to think it looks great. None of my friends or family have told me to reconsider yet, so I take that as a good sign. Christine also predicted that those who know me, but don't see me all the time, would look at me, notice something is different, but not be able to put their finger on it. True to her word, I received a couple of , 'You been tanning this weekend?' comments on Monday, but nothing about the hair. Success!

But, enough with the talk. Pictures speak louder than words, so here's how it all went down and you can judge for yourself:
