2014 has been a great year for hair color. In the spring, everyone started dying their hair beautiful shades of pastel, so every red carpet looked like it was populated by beautiful magical ponies. The trend continued through the summer, with all the pretty pastels getting brighter and moving into the realm of ombre and streaks and some interesting clip-in extensions. But all that pretty ice cream shop hair feels a bit wrong for winter, so living hair-trend vanguard Katy Perry went in the opposite direction and just dyed her hair a gorgeous shade of blackberry that is perfect for the current season.
'OOTD school girl raincoat vibez,' she posted alongside a photo of herself wearing a black and white raincoat with a matching top that has a twee little Peter Pan collar. It's adorable and young and makes her look more like Zooey Deschanel than usual, but the best thing about it is how great her new hair looks.
The dark purplish red (or reddish purple, depending on your monitor) really makes her blue eyes pop, and it matches her bright lipstick just about perfectly.
This is the perfect way to keep the brightly colored hair trend going through winter, and given the way other celebrities tend to folllow Katy Perry's hair lead, we can probably expect to see a celebrity daughter with cranberry hair by New Year's.
