A spokeswoman for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the woman, in her 50s, was pinned against the counter by the car, which crashed into the York Street salon about 8.30am.
The white Holden Commodore crashed through a wall before hitting the store.
It does not appear to have caused any further structural damage to the store.
The woman was taken to Albany Health Campus and is in a stable condition.
The male driver of the car was treated by St John Ambulance at the scene before being taken to the hospital, but he is expected to be discharged later today.
