According to a new graph published on Dadaviz by Jody Sieradzki, Generation Z kids aren't selecting their favorite Disney princess based on their slay outfits or musical numbers. Instead, according to Sieradzki, kids seem to be stocking up their doll collection based on the hair and skin color of specific princesses.
While one may be quick to think 'Gee, kids are sooooo racist,' it's important to note that there are a lot of non-racial related factors as to why Elsa is nearing $4 million in sales while princess of color, Tiana, falls well below $5k. For one, Disney spent roughly $323 million in marketing, producing and distributing 'Frozen'. Sure, The Princess and The Frog got a small push by Beyonce, but the Beyhive does not have the honeypots (read: moneypots) of Disney.
That still doesn't explain why other white, classic Disney princesses without the million dollar marketing push (Snow White, Cinderella and Ariel ) still sell more than Tiana and fellow OG princess, Jasmine. It seems that even though these films are vintage, and never had the marketing push of a 'Frozen', these OG Disney princesses continue to reign powerful in homes globally. But, then again, Jasmine is arguably and OG princess and she's just above Tiana...so idk.
All I'm saying is that Jasmine was always my fave because of her turquoise two piece and 'A Whole New World' was the jamz thus, my room was dedicated to Princess Jasmine.
Generation Z kids need to get it together.
