She was a high profile loser at the 2013 British Fashion Awards after being trumped to the Model of the Year title by Edie Campbell.
That surprise loss may well have had something to do with her apparent upset on Tuesday evening when she was spotted walking the streets of Rome.
Indeed, Cara looked distressed as she made her way into the street clutching a plastic cup following a night out at a local restaurant.

But while the high emotions looked convincing enough, it's possible they had more to do with her latest role in Michael Winterbottom's forthcoming film, The Face Of An Angel.
Cara is currently in the Italian capital while she shoots scenes for the new movie, loosely based on the trial of American student Amanda Knox for the alleged murder of Meredith Kercher in 2009.
The willowy model was enjoying a night out with her co-star in the film, actor Daniel Bruhl, and they appeared to be hitting it off over a meal before setting off into the night.

Cara, who missed the BFAs because of her latest commitment, will play Melanie, a young Englishwoman whom she previously described as 'an independent spirited girl'.
'The idea I had of her is that she's like me and a lot of my friends who are 21 and travelling around Europe,' she said.
Melanie meets a film-maker, Thomas - played by Bruhl - who is going through a mid-life crisis as he prepares to make a picture about the murder of a British student in Tuscany.

Earlier this week the catwalk model was spotted leaving her home in London with a metallic purple suitcase which was so full it had to be labelled 'heavy'.
Cara was wearing her usual off-duty look for no make-up and her shoulder length blonde hair loose and messy. She channeled her usual tomboy-grunge in red printed trousers, black biker jacket and black baker boy fur and leather hat, finishing the look off with a pair of Timberland boots.
The 21-year-old society beauty informed her 1 million plus Twitter followers of her busy schedule on Tuesday: 'Time to take off! Back to work x'

Edie Campbell, who has modeled alongside Cara for Burberry, beat her to be honored with the prestigious Model of the Year title at the 2013 British Fashion Awards.
The 23-year-old clothes horse beat off stiff competition from undisputed catwalk queen Cara Delevingne - who took home the prize in 2012 - and Sam Rollinson to scoop the accolade.
Looking shocked as she accepted her prize, she joked to the star-studded crowd: 'Models don't usually have to speak so this could be a career-ending moment for me.'
