Should you be asking for 'babylights', not...

If you haven't got to grips with the new season hair colour trends for 'sombre' and 'bronde', let us recap. Picture a merger of the richness of brown and the radiance of blonde, all softly blended so your colour beams some warmth into winter.

And now there's a new technique on the block to help you get the hair holy grail: super-natural colour like this.

Celebrity hair colourist (we're talking Poppy Delevigne's right-hand man), Jack Howard of the Neville Hair & Beauty salon has mastered 'babylights', something that photographs beautifully meaning his model clientele are loving it.

He explained to Cosmo that it's about superfine colouring, which he achieves with meche or plastic wrap. The effect, he says 'looks amazing in real life (obviously!) but also really pops on screen and camera'. No filter necessary?

It makes the hair look multidimensional, almost shimmery, and if the colourist goes light 'it's so fine it looks like you were born with it' - blonde hair, that is. Nice!

As Karlie Kloss's recent transformation to bombshell blonde demonstrates, it's delicate, fluid colour a million miles away from streaky, stripy highlights of the past. Want more inspo? These gorgeous clients of Jack's model the trend well.
